Conical rubber expansion joints can be used to connect piping of unequal diameters. They can be manufactured either in a concentric design with the axis of one end of the reducer concentric with the other, or as an eccentric reducer where the axis of one end is offset from the other.
The conical reducer type rubber expansion joint:
- Takes up pipe expansion, contraction, lateral, and angular stresses
- Reduces vibration, noise and shock (bearing protection)
- Accommodates pipe misalignment
- Takes stress off pump casing
- Makes pump removal and installation easier
- Accommodates pressure loads
- Is light weight, and space-saving
